Fundraising | Third Street Elementary School, Los Angeles

Dear Parents,

budgetchart Welcome to another great school year! This year’s Friends of Third (FOT) Annual Giving Fund Drive is underway and the headline of the L.A. Times article on the cover of our brochure says it all, “Tapped, Schools Turn to Parents”. With the LAUSD budget severely slashed, Third Street School needs financial support from parents more than ever.

Unfortunately, there is no longer such a thing as a free public education at the level provided by Third Street School. Private school yearly tuition in our neighborhood runs from $4,500 at St. Brendan’s, $13,800 at Pilgrim, to $14,800 at St. James.

Third Street School is in the top 3% of all schools in the state. Our API (Annual Performance Index) ranks us 10th in the state and 2nd in Los Angeles compared with comparable schools! This is a direct result of Dr. Oh’s leadership, dedicated teachers, involved parents and the programs and resources provided by Friends of Third that complete our children’s education.

We are asking for a tax-deductible donation of $500 per child to the Friends of Third Annual Giving Fund.

Last year, 61% of Third Street families participated and we are shooting for 100% this year! So please try to participate at some level!

We are now offering the option to sign up for monthly donations through our website. We have teamed up with Amazon.com to make this as easy as possible. Simply click on the DONATE button in the lower left corner of any page on the web site to sign up for 10 monthly payments (September - June) of either $25/month, $50/month, $75/month or $100/month.

Of course at any time you can make a one-time tax-deductible gift of any amount by clicking on the DONATE button.

Friends of Third is run by volunteers so nearly 100% of the money we raise goes directly into the classrooms.

If you plan to support the school with one donation this year, We urge you to make it to the Annual Giving Fund.
