Due to the new format, a NEW link and password to join will be emailed/texted via our Blackboard system on Monday morning.

Community Meeting

Join Principal Kim, PTA, and FOT at November's Community Meeting this Friday, November 6 at 3 PM, as they provide our school with the latest news and updates. This month’s meeting features guest speaker Elizabeth Lehman, principal of West Hollywood Elementary, who will be speaking about digital citizenship and how parents can help their children make smart, safe choices online. The Zoom link and password will be shared via Blackboard Connect by Thursday.

Community Read

3rd Street's Community Read group is continuing its exploration of various narratives of people of color. Beginning November 18, the Community Read group will start discussing the book Dear America, Notes of an Undocumented Citizen by Jose Antonio Vargas. Please see below for dates, registration information, and additional details.

Read to Achieve Reading Program

3rd Street Elementary is once again participating in this year's LA Clippers Read to Achieve Program which challenges students to take time out to read. Each participating student is asked to track the number of minutes they spend reading during the 6-week program.

The elementary and middle schools that track the most minutes read during the 6-week challenge will receive a virtual Reading Timeout visit from a member of the Clippers Read To Achieve Squad! The squad includes Clippers Mascot Chuck the Condor, Clippers Current and Alumni Players and Clippers staff. The top 3 students in each grade level (Pre-K/TK through 8th grade) in the overall program (all schools combined) will

have the opportunity be featured on the Clippers Read to Achieve website and will receive a Clippers prize pack, which could include Clippers gear, books and school supplies. Students will also earn badges when they hit reading milestones and will be eligible for prizes throughout the program.

Tracking starts on Monday, November 2 and ends on Friday, December 11. Additionally, all minutes will be tracked online.

Please see the attached for information on how to register and track minutes online.
