First Day of School Updates / Periodic COVID Testing

Please be sure to review our 3rd Street Parent Handbook and the August 6, 2021 Community Meeting Recording and Powerpoint Slides (pg 40) for details about the first day of school.

All students must have taken a COVID baseline test between August 2 and August 15 and have a negative test result on file or be able to furnish proof thereof in order to be admitted on the first day of school.

UPDATED DROP-OFF INFO

If your child's baseline COVID test was with LAUSD:

Walk/Drop off your child at their designated gate. Each child will need to be wearing a mask and be ready to show their LAUSD Daily Pass QR code. Parents opting to show their child's LAUSD Daily Pass QR code at the check-in area on a device are strongly encouraged to generate the QR code at home and take a screenshot of it instead of trying to access the Daily Pass Portal at school. Remember, the Daily Pass QR code must be generated the morning of.

If your child's baseline COVID test was NOT with LAUSD, but your child tested with LAUSD last year:

Walk/Drop off your child at their designated gate. Each child will need to be wearing a mask and be ready to show their LAUSD Daily Pass QR code. Parents opting to show their child's LAUSD Daily Pass QR code at the check-in area on a device are strongly encouraged to generate the QR code at home and take a screenshot of it instead of trying to access the Daily Pass Portal at school. Remember, the Daily Pass QR code must be generated the morning of. If you cannot generate a QR code, bring a copy of the negative baseline test result.

If your child's baseline COVID test was NOT with LAUSD and your child is new to LAUSD and has never tested with LAUSD:

Accompany your child to the June Street A entrance (main gate). LAUSD has notified our school that our periodic COVID testing will take place weekly on Mondays. In order for students to test weekly, each student must have consent from a parent. Parents who took their child to get their baseline COVID test at an LAUSD location gave their consent to periodic testing at that time. Parents who took an external baseline COVID test do not have consent on file and must therefore accompany their child during their first day of periodic testing. As tomorrow is our first day of periodic testing, students whose baseline test was completed outside of LAUSD should report directly to the June Street A (main entrance) with their parent and bring a copy of the negative baseline test result so their child can proceed to class after testing and remain till the end of the day.

Beyond the Bell

LAUSD will offer general supervision, at no cost, for children in Grades 2 through 5 each afternoon from dismissal until 6 pm as part of its Youth Services Beyond the Bell Program. This consists of a trained supervisor who oversees the children who are on the school play structures and in the athletic yard. To apply for the program, please complete the application and turn it into the office. Hard copies of the application are also available in the office.

At this time, ETK, TK, K and grade 1 students are not eligible for participation in Beyond the Bell and must be picked up after school if not attending a private after-school program.
