Periodic COVID Testing

LAUSD has determined that weekly periodic COVID testing for our school will take place every Monday (or on an alternate day when our school is off on a Monday). In order for a child to be tested, parent consent must be on file. If a student received their baseline test or was tested previously with LAUSD, parent consent is already on file. If a student has never tested with LAUSD, then the parent must provide their consent.

LAUSD is now allowing parents to grant consent through the Daily Pass Dashboard. Instructions are available HERE or on our website at https://www.thirdstreetschool.com/back-to-better.

If your child misses periodic COVID testing, then your child must get tested elsewhere that same week or your child will be disallowed from coming onto campus the following week. Please check the webpage above for a list of stationary sites and for guidance on how to upload an external COVID test record.

New TK/K Pick-Up Procedures

Beginning Monday, August 23, the following afternoon pick-up procedures will go into effect.

  • Like morning drop, parents in rooms 8, 9, 10, and 11 will utilize the 2nd Street A gate and parents in rooms 1 and 2 will utilize the 2nd Street B gate.

  • At each gate, parents will line up behind their class cone. Please mind your distance. A staff member will admit parents to pick up their child from their classroom.

  • The teacher will be by the door to greet and unite each child with their parent. Parents should not enter the classroom and should immediately leave campus after being reunited with their child so other parents can be admitted.

  • A snack bag that includes a snack, dinner, and next day's breakfast will be available by the gate.

After-school Library Hours

Beginning Monday, August 23, our school library will open in the afternoons from 2:30-5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and from 2:30-4:30 PM on Friday for students to come study, read, do homework, or enjoy quiet time.

Students may enjoy books from our collection while in the library, however books are not available for check-out during after school hours.

2nd-5th graders may come to the library on their own. PAL, ETK, TK, Kinder, and 1st graders are also welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. PAL, ETK, TK, and K parents that wish to visit the library with their child may enter through the main entrance.

A few rules:

· Masks must be worn covering the mouth and nose at all times

· Backpacks must be left outside in designated area

· Food and drink are not allowed inside the library, only water bottles

· Bring materials (pencils, paper, etc.) needed for homework

· BE RESPECTFUL. A library is a place for quiet activities.
