CGI OPEN CLASS

We are so excited to invite 3rd Street parents to our very first Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) open classes! Mrs. Eunmee Kim (1st grade teacher) and Mrs. Clara Hong (3rd grade teacher) will be hosting a brief orientation on what CGI is and doing a CGI math demo lesson in their own classroom. It will be a great learning opportunity for parents to make connections with how their child is learning mathematical skills at school and bringing those strategies back to home. Spaces are limited and everyone must reserve a spot to participate in this special day. The open class is on Monday, November 7 at 8:05 am promptly in parent center, room 33.

Only 15 spaces are available for each grade level span (k-2nd, 3rd-5th). Sign up for one of the open classes here: K-2 grades or 3-5 grades.

MAKING CARING COMMON - 4TH & 5TH GRADE STUDENT COUNCIL

We are excited to announce that Third Street Elementary is forming a Student Council for Making Caring Common, our school’s new social-emotional program aimed at cultivating a kind and just community! The Student Council will be made up of 4th and 5th grade students who demonstrate an interest and capacity to promote the Making Caring Common vision at 3rd Street.

Strong candidates for the Student Council are students who

  • Consistently act with respect and concern for others;

  • Seek to understand and value differences; and

  • Show a commitment to fairness and justice.

Students who are interested in joining will bring a parent letter and permission slip to start the application process. There will be two students from every 4th and 5th grade class selected to participate. The Student Council will have monthly meetings during lunch time with staff, administrators, and/or parent volunteers to discuss their role, share their experiences and receive guidance and support.

On a note related to the Making Caring Common program, just a reminder that we will be hosting members of the Los Angeles Rams to Kick Off Kindness next week (Tuesday 11/1)!
