RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS

For everyone's health and safety, it is important for your child(ren) to administer a rapid antigen test prior to returning to campus this Monday, 11/28/2022.

SCHOOL EXPERIENCE SURVEY

Help! Parents, we need your help in completing your parent school experience surveys to inform decisions we make at our school including our goals in the School Plan for Student Achievement. This information also helps determine how our budget is allocated. Your opinion and feedback is very important.

Please complete the survey at https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/8397 by Friday, December 9th.

COMMUNITY MEETING AND SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY

Please join us for this month's community meeting this Friday, 12/02/22 at 9:00 am. Ms. Sandra Choi, magnet coordinator will be presenting on the GATE identification. The meeting will be on zoom, and a separate notification will be sent out to all parents/community members with zoom link information.

This Friday, December 2nd is also December's monthly school spirit day. Let's support your class to win their school spirit stick by wearing silly socks on this day.

BOOK FAIR IS COMING!

12/12/22 - 12/16/22

Third Street's Book Fair is coming back to campus this holiday season and our PTA needs parent volunteers to staff the fair during its week-long run. Find a shift (or three or four!) that work for you and come out to enjoy how much our Third Street kids love the book fair.

Besides being open before and after school, each and every class comes through the fair during regular school hours, so we will need helpers throughout the day. It's a major volunteer effort!

On Thursday, December 15th, Book Fair will stay open late for families attending Winter Family Night. At this event, the PTA will also be staffing a concession booth. Please sign up to volunteer either in the library or at the booth on that evening. Thanks so much!

WINTER FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT + BOOK FAIR, HOSTED BY RISE Thursday, 12/15/22 from 4:30-8pm Join us for our inaugural *RISE* event - a family movie night and special after-hours book fair fun! We'll be celebrating the winter holidays and multiculturalism at 3rd Street with treats, crafts, and a special screening of Jingle Jangle. Plus, the book fair will be open late and will feature RISE reading recommendations + special prizes! Grab a book or two, then find a spot on the lawn to enjoy the movie with friends. (And since it's sweater weather now, we recommend bringing a sleeping bag or picnic blanket to sit on and something cozy to help keep you warm.) Does your family celebrate another winter holiday in addition to Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa? Email caraepstein@gmail.com and let us know - we'd love to include your winter celebration! *3rd Street's RISE committee is dedicated to celebrating and supporting diversity in our school community through education, action, events, and outreach.

LIBRARY HELPING HANDS WANTED

Our 3rd Street Library needs ongoing after school volunteers to help with programs like Read Around the World, our upcoming Swimming In Books for our Kinder and 1st Grade students, and much more. Please click on the link below and sign up. Consider making it a regular commitment -- it's quick, easy, and fun! Thank you!

SAVE THE DATE FOR CASINO & COCKTAILS FEBRUARY 10, 2023
