KINDNESS CORNER (MAKING CARING COMMON UPDATES)
MCC TOY DRIVE
The Making Caring Common Student Council is hosting a 3rd Street Elementary Toy Drive to benefit the Koreatown Youth + Community Center. It kicks off when we return from Thanksgiving. They will be collecting toys from 11/27 - 12/6. If you are able to donate, please bring new, unwrapped toys for kids ages 0-10 years old and drop them in the donation box at the main entrance. Please no toy guns, make-up, clothing or shoes. Thank you for your support!
BRINGING IT HOME, LISTENING DEEPLY
Parents, put the phone down! A common sentiment that popped up during our Listening Deeply lessons was that our students feel their caregivers and other adults do not listen to them because they are constantly on their phones. It is a reminder for all of us to be aware of how much we are on our phones and how it deeply affects our children.
This month, the class lesson is on Inspiring Kindness (and addressing when our students feel invisible at school or elsewhere)
To complement our class lesson, please review this Tip Sheet for Creating Caring Kids.
ASK ME ABOUT...As a follow up to our lesson, please ask your children who has been kind to them and when do they feel invisible?
AND FINALLY. . .
The Making Caring Common Student Council members will be wearing gold hats throughout the school days so they can be easily identified and recognized on campus. Please let your students know to look for the gold hats if they need a friend, someone to talk to, or help with anything.
