The English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC) is a group of parents and community members who advise and assist our school in making important decisions related to services for our bilingual students who are learning English as a second language (ELLs). Responsibilities include:

​

  • Providing written recommendations to the SSC regarding programs and services for EL students.

  • Reviewing the school's language census report and academic achievement results when developing the school's plan for English learner services and programs.

  • Advising on efforts to inform parents about the importance of regular school attendance, review the school’s student attendance data and the District’s student attendance policy.

 

For the 2018-19 school year, the ELAC will meet on August 24 (Orientation & Election), September 21, October 18, November 15, January 17, February 7 and March 7. All ELAC meetings are held in room 29 at 8:15 AM.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL (SSC)

The School Site Council (SSC) is group of parents, community members, teachers, and schools staff whose goal is to identify and respond to the educational and community development needs of our entire student body. In addition to laying out long-term goals for increasing student achievement and determining the expenditure of any categorical funds provided by LAUSD, 3rd Street’s SSC also:

​

  • Evaluates and responds to recommendations from the English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC).

  • Focuses on developing and approving the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), which identifies and implements curriculum and instructional practices to support high achievement goals. 

  • Monitors the implementation and effectiveness of the SPSA on an ongoing basis.

  • Reviews and analyzing student achievement data.

  • Discusses curriculum, scheduling, and fundraising priorities.

 

For the 2018-19 school year, the SSC will meet on August 24 (Orientation & Election), September 21, October 19, November 16, January 18, February 8 and March 8. All SSC meetings are held in room 29 at 7:15 AM.

ELAC and SSC meetings are open to all parents, teachers, administrators, and the local public - we welcome your attendance, input and questions at each meeting.  Meetings agendas are available a few days prior to each meeting and minutes are available shortly after each meeting.
