SCHOOL UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF 9/26/21

UPDATE TO AFTER-SCHOOL LIBRARY PROCEDURES
The following procedural changes to our after-school library hours will go into effect beginning Monday, September 27.
Students in Beyond the Bell will be allowed to go to the library between 3 and 4 PM. Students must sign-in/sign-out when leaving/returning to Beyond the Bell and when entering/exiting the library.
Grade PAL to grade 1 students are welcome to use the library from 2:45 to 4 PM so long as they are accompanied by an adult. The adult should check in at the front door or main office.
Students in Kid's Kor can continue to use the library between 2:45 and 4:30 PM. Students must sign-in/sign-out when leaving/returning to Kid's Kor and when entering/exiting the library.
ADA CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Construction on our Las Palmas gate is proceeding well and will continue. This week, construction on several restrooms, including the shared restroom between room 1 and 2 and the girls' restroom on the main yard ensues. Students will continue to have access to the restroom in the auditorium and to several trailer restrooms.
SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
LAUSD's search for the new Superintendent is currently underway, and it has been a goal of the School Board to make a selection that accurately reflects the views and values of the community. This Wednesday, 9/29, Community Engagement Specialists will be at our school at dismissal to conduct surveys and engage with the community directly to ensure the next superintendent reflects the priorities of LA Unified communities.
FAIRFAX COMMUNITY OF TOWN SCHOOL TOWN HALL MEETING
Every month, the Community of Schools that 3rd Street belongs to holds a Town Hall Meeting hosted by our local district and our Community of Schools Administrator. PERIODIC COVID TESTING
Our COVID periodic testing this week will take place on Friday, October 1. Students will be able to continue to get a Daily Pass throughout the week.
